The 2007 season has already begun for reigning European
champion James Dabill
With
the youngster from Leeds, West Yorkshire having recently made
the long trip to Italy to collect his new Future TRW Montesa
Cota 4RT. Dabill visited his new team’s headquarters
in Bergamo earlier this week, where he completed his first
official test on board the very special four stroke machine.
With the three-day session under his belt, James then headed
back to the UK to meet up with his newly recruited assistant
Jack Lee. Jack will act as Dabill’s official minder
at all competitions during 2007 as well as accompany him during
his ongoing practice schedule, which will see the relatively
young pairing travel to Italy and Spain over the coming weeks
in readiness for the season proper.
Twenty year old Jack Lee, who is a regular and respected
rider himself on the British national scene, is the son of
the famous Midlands based motorcycle dealer John Lee, who
was also a two wheel star of yester years. Having recently
qualified as a Honda technician and with his father’s
blessing, Jack has stepped out of the family business to assist
what many see as Britain’s best trials hope for the
future.
Jack will join James, and will also be mounted on a Montesa
Cota 4RT during 2007. This machine will be provided by UK
importer Sandiford Motorcycles, for Jack’s use at the
selected competitive outings he will be able to squeeze in
after his commitments alongside Dabill.
Both Dabill and Lee will make their Montesa debuts at the
Colonial National on Sunday 11th February. This will be James’
one and only UK outing for sometime, with him heading of to
Italy to compete in the Milan World indoor trial, and a two
day event later in February, before the Italian outdoor and
indoor series kicks off in March.
Thoroughly excited by the challenge that lies ahead Dabill
commented. “ Things could not be going any better right
at this moment. The team gave me a great welcome and the bike
that they have prepared for me is absolutely awesome. Adding
Jack to the whole set is a massive bonus. If everything continues
to go to plan, then I am confident we can achieve the results
everyone is expecting of us.”
