Motor Sports Association confirms departure of Bruce Goddard
The Motor Sports Association has announced that Bruce Goddard,
the MSA’s Business Development Director, is to leave
the governing body in early 2007 to pursue other interests
within motor sport.
Goddard joined the MSA in 2002 following the implementation
of an independent strategic review into the structure of the
organisation. Charged with developing the sport and investigating
commercial opportunities, Goddard has been responsible for
the introduction of a raft of initiatives that have had a
significant impact on UK motor sport.
These have included the restructuring of UK karting and rallying,
evolving the Volunteers in Motor Sports programme, liaison
with government bodies and the launch of the MSA British Elite
talent development programmes in both rallying and circuit
racing.
"Bruce has made a huge contribution to the Motor Sports
Association during the last four years," confirms Colin
Hilton, MSA Chief Executive. "The organisation has changed
considerably to become leaner and more efficient in that time
and Bruce has driven through a lot of the restructuring of
the sport. We wish him well in the future."
"It has been a tremendously rewarding experience for
me," says Goddard. "When I was recruited to scope
and implement development initiatives for the Motor Sports
Association I was aware that there was a finite time limit.
I have had the thrill of working within the sport that I love
for the past four years and during that time have made many
new friends. I am leaving the Motor Sports Association with
the knowledge that it is now well poised for the future. I
might now actually be able to return to being a competitor!"
