British Minibike series all set for a sizzling return
Despite
the unusually wet summer weather having played havoc with
the opening two rounds of the inaugural British 4 Stroke Minibike
Championships, the premier league of small wheel action is
set for a sizzling return this coming Sunday 12th August.
The fantastic Mildenhall circuit in Suffolk has the great
honor of hosting the third stop on the UK tour that will now
climax at Doncaster Moto Park in mid October.
Doncaster was set to be the scene for round three, but torrential
rain ruled the meeting out of its original July date. The
last clash for the series was back in June, when a totally
reworked Mildenhall track provided the basis for some of the
best minibike racing ever to be seen on these shores.
Not wanting to rest on their recent success at this established
venue, MBP has been hard at work to serve up a totally different
test this time around, with the newly redesigned track being
run in the reverse direction on this coming occasion.
Reigning MX2 British Champion and minibike racer Carl Nunn
is a regular visitor to the Suffolk site and has given his
highly respected approval to the circuit that will greet Britain’s
fastest small wheel racers this coming Sunday.
Nunn is a massive fan of this ground breaking national status
minibike championship, and has pledged to show his support
for the series in the best possible way, by confirming his
entry for the fifth and final round later in the year.
Although their names can not be released at this time, two
further major MXGP riders have also confirmed their intention
to line up against Nunn at Doncaster for a truly showpiece
finale, to a championship that has firmly put minibike racing
on the map in both the UK and Europe.
Trevor Scott is currently the hot name on the UK minibike
scene, with the highly talented small wheel rider leading
both the 88cc Pro Mini and Open Midsize classes. Scott took
the overall win in these two categories last time out at Mildenhall
and will be looking for a repeat showing this time out.
Another man making his mark on the series is Tommy Wright,
the youngster is another rider competing in two different
classes. Wright gave Scott a good run for his money in the
Open Midsize races at round two, and took the overall victory
in the Superstock Midsize class.
Other riders looking to continue their form as the championship
resumes after its forced summer break will be Trevor Buckley
and James MacFerren. These two guys took the top honors in
the remaining two categories, those being the 50cc Pro Mini
and the Open Minibike classes respectively, at the previous
Suffolk meeting.
Just six points separates the top three riders in the 50cc
Pro Mini category, with Pete Crump holding a narrow advantage
in the overall standings as the series moves towards its mid
point.
With sunshine guaranteed this Sunday coming, Mildenhall will
be the place to be.
Limited entries in some classes remain available. To take
