CCM dominate again at the Silkolene Short Track UK championship
For
the fourth time in the last five rounds, the CCM factory pairing
of Lee Complin and Andrew Moore recorded a 1 – 2 for
the famous Bolton based British manufacturer. Round eight
of the series held at Stoke was a very wet affair, with the
riders hardly being recognisable out on the muddy track as
the meeting wore on.
Complin and Moore, both ex professional speedway riders,
have shown their ability to adapt to this relatively new sport
in the UK, this being their first season in a discipline that
originated in the USA. Not only have the CCM riders grown
in stature throughout the year, but also the FT35R has too,
in this its first year of race development.
Having now confirmed their superiority in both wet and dry
conditions Complin and Moore have taken control of the head
of the championship. Complin currently holds a fifteen point
lead over his team mate and could take the title as early
as the next round at Peterborough in two weeks time. Whilst
Complin may be the champion in waiting, Moore’s efforts
can not be over looked, having jumped from fourth to second
in the standings thanks to his latest result, and all this
after having missed the opening two rounds of the series.
Complin was only defeated once all day, this being in the
second heat, and aptly by reigning champion Marco Belli from
Italy. Moore suffered a slightly more embarrassing lesson,
as he was demoted to runner up in the first semi final by
Kessler who was making his debut in the Silkolene Short Track
UK championship .
The grand final was another CCM whitewash, or mud bath as
the case was, with Complin and Moore managing to avoid the
string of fallen riders as conditions worsened dramatically
during the last race of the day. Not satisfied with a factory
1 – 2, CCM added extra weight to their performance with
regular team rider Richard May coming home in an excellent
fifth place.
