Raga Storms Second Day in USA

Following his win in the first of the two days of competition at the third round of the 2006 World championship in Tennessee, USA, reigning indoor and outdoor champion, Adam Raga – Gas Gas further extended his lead in the overall standings with another victory today. Runner-up yesterday, Dougie Lampkin – Repsol Montesa HRC repeated his second place of yesterday with Jeroni Fajardo – Gas Gas taking the remaining podium position.

Lampkin launched a strong attack on Raga’s dominance of the weekend being just one mark adrift after the first seven sections. However, a combination of a five in section eight – the only rider to do so – and the continued steady riding of Raga saw Lampkin’s chances of entering the second lap in the lead slip away with Raga ending the first lap with a four mark cushion over Lampkin.

It was during the second lap, however that Raga differentiated himself dropping a mere nine marks for the entire lap – less than half that of his closest rivals.

Raga now has a ten point margin in the championship standings over second place Lampkin who has jumped two places up the table this weekend with his two runner-up places accompanied by poor performances from both Antonio Bou – Beta and Takahisa Fujinami – Montesa.

In the Junior championship, Michael Brown – Beta returned to his winning ways after his third place yesterday by taking victory over Daniel Gibert – Montesa and Daniel Oliveras – Gas Gas. Despite being three marks adrift of Gibert at the end of the first lap, Brown recovered to take his third victory of the season and now leads the junior championship by eight points over Oliveras.

Alexz Wigg – Gas Gas made it two wins out of two days in the Youth 125cc championship with a slim two mark victory over Loris Gubian – Sherco with Matteo Grattarola – Sherco in third place. Wigg now leads the championship by nine points over Gubian.

The championship will rest for just one week, before making it second long haul journey to the Japanese Grand Prix at the superb Twin Ring circuit in Motegi.
