SRW EVENTS ANNOUNCE THE CREATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL RALLY
CHALLENGE
SRW Events Ltd. announced today the launch of the International
Rally Challenge (IRC), a newly created international series
authorised by the FIA. SRW Events Ltd. will be the promoter
of this competition.
The aim of the IRC is to give young rally drivers as well
as amateur drivers new opportunities to compete together in
recognized regional and international rallies. The new series
will also offer the organisers innovative TV coverage of their
event, including live shows, daily highlights and magazines
conceived by Eurosport.
The IRC is reserved for cars belonging to one of the following
categories: Super 2000, Gp N, Gp A 5/6/7, Gp A Diesel.
In 2006, the IRC will be contested over four qualifying events
as follows:
26/28 May Zulu Rally South Africa
23/25 June Ypres Westhoek Rally Belgium
3/5 August Rali Vinho da Madeira Portugal
14/16 September Rallye Sanremo Italy
The title of "Winner of the 2006 International Rally
Challenge" will be awarded to the driver having totalled
the highest number of points in the four qualifying events.
TV coverage of the IRC on Eurosport's platform (Eurosport,
Eurosport 2, EurosportNews and Eurosport.com) will start from
the second event, the Ypres Westhoek Rally
