Motor Sports Council:
Presentations and election of MSA Directors
At last month's meeting of the Motor Sports Council (9 February),
four new directors were elected to the board of the Motor
Sports Association - Robin Knight (Competition Secretary of
750 Motor Club), John Wood (Managing Director of MIRA), Dennis
Carter (Chief Executive of BARC) and Alan Gow (BTCC Series
Director). Alan Gow will continue his role as MSA Chairman
following John Grant, who retired at the end of last year
after three years in the role.
Chairman of the Motor Sports Council, Graham Stoker, made
a number of presentations to retiring members.
Ronnie Trouton MBE has been Chairman of the Autotest Committee
since 1986, while Bill Troughear has chaired the Regional
Committee since 1983. Both have served on MSA Committees since
the early 1970s, most recently holding positions on the MSA
Board. In recognition of their outstanding service and dedication
to the sport over more than 30 years, Graham Stoker invited
both Trouton and Troughear to take up the honorary positions
of Vice-Presidents of the Council.
Also presented with commemorative tankards were Howard Lapsley,
who was Chairman of the Judicial Advisory Panel from 1983
to 1993 and more recently served on Council as a nominated
representative, and John Felix who stepped down in 2003 as
Chairman of the Safety Committee, having held a number of
other senior appointments over the years and being a holder
of the Prince Michael Award of Merit.
Council members showed their warm appreciation for the outstanding
contribution of these individuals to motor sport.
