Trials Preview La Chatre, France
This weekend coming will see the third round of the European
series and the fifth round of the Outdoor World championship
take place at La Chatre, France. Here James Dabill will be
looking to reverse his recent run of poor results. Two bad
days at the Japanese Grand Prix were then followed by a disappointing
fourth place at the Italian championship event last weekend.
Dabill arrived back in the UK early last week, after three
weeks of travelling that included visits to the USA, Japan
and Italy, in readiness for the third round of the British
domestic series. Despite practicing hard on his return Dabill
slumped to his worst result of the championship so far as
he placed sixth at a very low scoring trial.
Normally regarded as one of the tougher competitions on the
UK calendar, the Kelly Farm venue near Lustleigh in Devon
failed to serve up its usual severe test, as the first two
riders home posted single figure totals.
In contrast James struggled to get to terms with the dry
terrain and never recorded a lap score of less than ten marks
to end the day on a hefty thirty four marks, that being three
more than fellow Beta rider Sam Connor.
Fives in section eight on the opening lap and section seven
on the last tour added to a day that Dabill will want to forget
with almost immediate effect.
“It has been a nightmare from start to finish today
in every way. I have been well off the pace on all three laps.
I really can’t think of a day when I have ridden so
badly, when everything was in place for a good result.”
“Maybe a few days off the bike before France, will
help break the bad run and put my season back on course.”
Dabill currently lies in ninth place in the Outdoor World
championship, and leads the European series as he continues
both campaigns in France this coming Saturday and Sunday.
