World trials returns to Poland
This weekend marks a special moment for the FIM Trial World
Championship, with the series retuning to Poland after having
been absent for over a decade. Marc Colomer was the last winner
of the Polish Grand Prix back in 1995, and Malcolm Rathmell
was the first winner of a World round in this former Eastern
block country in 1975.
Dougie Lampkin – Repsol Montesa HRC will be one rider
who will be looking forward to arriving in Poland, so that
he can quickly forget his poor result at the Italian GP. Lampkin
will be hoping to gain his 100th victory, which will be an
incredible achievement for the 7 times champion. Italy was
a special occasion for another rider, as the FIM recognised
Diego Bosis reaching his 200th GP by presenting him with an
award by which to remember this landmark in his long riding
career.
To celebrate all the great riders that have competed in the
Trial World Championship since its original edition in 1975,
we have included information of the longest serving and most
winning competitors compiled by the series’ most loyal
supporter Charly Demathieu.
Although local rider Tadeusz Blazusiak – Scorpa will
be hoping for glory at his home round, it will be more than
likely that it will be the usual candidates who will fill
the rostrum at the end of the day. Takahisa Fujinami –
Repsol Montesa HRC is the man of the moment with a win in
Italy and a second place in France.
Albert Cabestany – Sherco lies only one point behind
the Japanese rider in the series, and is also in good form
going to Poland. Antonio Bou – Beta and championship
leader Adam Raga – Gas Gas complete what has now become
a five way fight for the title, and one that is sure to continue
this Sunday in Myslenice.
Daniel Gibert – Montesa , Daniel Oliveras – Gas
Gas and Michael Brown – Beta have established themselves
as the three main contenders in the Junior class as they travel
East ready for this weekend.
In the Youth category it is Loris Gubian – Sherco,
Matteo Grattarola – Sherco and Alfredo Gomez –
Gas Gas who have emerged as the front runners and who will
continue their battle at the seventh round of the series.
