CCM score second successive 1-2 at the Silkolene Short
Track UK championship
CCM
factory riders Andrew Moore and Lee Complin once again dominated
proceedings at the latest round of the Silkolene Short Track
UK Championship, with the pairing finishing first and second
respectively at the seventh round held at Scunthorpe last
Sunday. Moore, having also won at Newport seven days earlier,
became the first rider to register back to back wins in the
2006 series.
Both CCM riders now sit in the top four in the overall championship
standings, with Complin increasing his advantage to six points
at the top of the table over early season leader Pearson,
as the Husaberg runner came home third on this occasion. Having
moved up to fourth spot in the series, Moore now has a real
chance of pushing his team mate for the title, as he sits
just eleven points off the lead with three rounds still remaining.
CCM’s rise to the top in this their first season on
the short track circuit was confirmed as Complin once again
took control of his opening heat and easily stretched his
lead over reigning champion Belli. However a slip by the twenty
two year old ex speedway star saw the young CCM rider hit
the deck before remounting. Despite this early mistake it
looked like it was going to be Complin’s day, as he
defeated his team mate Moore as they came together in the
heat stages of the meeting.
With the trio of championship challengers, namely Pearson,
Belli and Boast having transferred to the grand final via
the first semi, the dominant CCM pairing had it all their
own way in the last part of the qualification process. Moore
used the second semi final to turn the tables on Complin,
with ex Eastbourne Eagles star taking an important victory
over his slightly younger team mate just ahead of the main
event.
The grand final was a matter of fact for the CCM factory
duo, with Moore and Complin taking a formation holeshot from
which they controlled the twelve lap, twelve rider showdown
to the flag, to once again take maximum points for the Bolton
based squad. With no team orders in play, Moore and Complin
will now enjoy an epic closing duel over the remaining rounds,
with both free to fight for the title in their own way.
