World Junior champion James Dabill
Reigning World Junior champion James Dabill will spend the
next few days making final preparations in readiness for his
assault on the World famous Scottish six-day trial that will
start next Monday. A short period of relaxation will be at
the top of his agenda, with James having endured a hectic
schedule since he turned twenty just over a week ago.
Dabill managed to squeeze in a local centre trial last Sunday,
which he won, before he drove to London to fly out overnight
to Italy where he arrived on Monday morning. James spent the
rest of Monday testing with his Italian based team before
grabbing a few hours sleep ready for the following days domestic
championship event.
The oddly scheduled Tuesday event saw Dabill take third place
in wet and slippery conditions, as the young Yorkshireman
improved throughout the day to post his best score on the
third and final tour of the ten tough sections.
Reflecting on the last week and looking ahead to his forthcoming
trip to Scotland, James commented.
“I am not happy with my result at the Italian championship
round, as I was riding far from my best. I am not going to
make excuses, but looking back the schedule was just too much.
I pretty much went thirty hours with no sleep on the run up
to the event, which is hardly the best way to prepare yourself.”
“Anyway that is over now, moving forward it is important
to make sure that I arrive in Scotland in good shape. My bike
is ready and pretty much everything else is all but done,
so I hope I can spend the next couple of days giving my body
and mind a well deserved rest.”
“People are saying that I am one of the favourites
to win the Scottish, whilst I would love to, this means nothing
as it is a long and special week where anything can happen.”
