Day three of a four day test at the Paul Ricard High Tech
Test Track saw Team McLaren Mercedes test drivers Pedro de
la Rosa and Gary Paffett take over driving duties from Kimi
Raikkonen and Juan Pablo Montoya.
The track solution was changed overnight to the longer and
faster 1E SC short which is 5.216km. This allowed the team
to focus on further engine and aerodynamic developments specific
for the Canadian Grand Prix on June 25th.
Pedro was third fastest on the timesheets with a time of
1m25.834. He completed a total of 120 laps which added up
to 626kms. His main focus was the Michelin tyre selection
for Canada.
This was Gary's first experience testing in the MP4-21 as
previously he has been concentrating on tyre testing in the
interim MP4-20. He completed over 516km with his quickest
time of the day, a 1m26.443 being the eighth fastest overall.
Pedro and Gary will continue their work tomorrow, the final
day of this four day test for Team McLaren Mercedes.
