McLAREN AND HUGO BOSS CELEBRATE SILVER ANNIVERSARY
HUGO BOSS, one of the leading international fashion and
lifestyle groups, and McLaren are marking their Partnership’s
Silver Anniversary by extending this already record breaking
Partnership further.
This weekend's German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring sees
HUGO BOSS and McLaren celebrate 25 years of Partnership. On
Wednesday Team McLaren Mercedes ran its Formula 1 car with
test driver Gary Paffett at the wheel at the HUGO BOSS HQ
in Metzingen, Germany. The event was attended by HUGO BOSS
employees who also had the opportunity to meet Kimi Raikkonen.
On Thursday evening at the Mercedes-Benz grandstand area
at Hockenheim a fashion gala and VIP party took place to celebrate
the fusion of fashion and the Team McLaren Mercedes Formula
1 team. The fashion show was opened by the Team McLaren Mercedes
Formula 1 car being driven onto the catwalk by Gary Paffett.
HUGO BOSS first became a Partner of McLaren in 1981. Since
then the Partnership has claimed nine Drivers' Formula One
World Championships (Niki Lauda: 84; Alain Prost: 85, 86,
89; Ayrton Senna: 88, 90, 91; Mika Hakkinen: 98, 99) and seven
Constructors' Formula One World Championships (84, 85, 88,
89, 90, 91, 98).
Over the years HUGO BOSS has provided the team with specially
developed outfits to wear at the races reflecting the diverse
requirements of the more than 120 people on track; management,
marketing, mechanics, service staff and the drivers –
a total of 20,000 individual parts. McLaren and HUGO BOSS
were also the first to introduce bespoke clothing for the
team to wear whilst travelling to and from Formula 1 grand
prix and tests. In addition HUGO BOSS also provides the employees
at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England, with
a unique uniform.
Since 2005 HUGO BOSS has also made the original range of
team clothes available to race fans as a limited edition BOSS
McLaren range in selected BOSS shops world-wide.
"McLaren has always believed in setting new standards
and striving to be the best in everything we do – just
like HUGO BOSS," said Ron Dennis, CEO and Chairman of
the McLaren Group. "I'm very proud of the fact that our
relationship is the longest sports sponsorship ever. For the
past 25 years our Partnership has continued to develop and
both parties have been working hard to achieve our mutual
success - something we will continue to do in the future."
"Formula One stands for fascination, dynamism and ongoing
innovation," said Dr. Bruno Sälzer, CEO and Chairman
of the HUGO BOSS Group. "In this fast-paced world, the
25-year partnership between HUGO BOSS and McLaren is certainly
a remarkable achievement."
HUGO BOSS will remain as a Corporate Partner of the team.
The BOSS logo will continue to appear on the Team McLaren
Mercedes Formula 1 cars adjacent to the drivers' names and
on drivers' overalls and helmets as well as on team personnel.
