NWLMRA March 2005 e-Newsletter
Welcome to March’s eNewsletter. It is the off-season
right now, but many people are eating, drinking, and dreaming
about the 2005 racing season
Several new mowers and new racers are expected to turn up
for the coming season. Amongst these are a number of new Group
4 machines. Time will tell if they all make it to the grid,
but the signs are encouraging at the moment with 8 or 9 new
machines expected to compete for the title this year. There
is a similar story in Group 2 as well, with at least 6 machines
being prepared for the opening event of the season. Group
3 seems to be attracting new drivers on old machines this
season. All this bodes well for the NWLMRA, with an expected
race-day turnout of 15 to 20 machines at every meeting
2005 Annual and General Meeting
Following on from the Extra-ordinary General Meeting held
in late November, we now have a date for our AGM. This will
be held on March 12th, with an 11.00am start. As usual, the
club will provide refreshments as well as an open forum for
the many topics that will be up for discussion
The major rule change this year will be the new engine rulings.
These need to be approved by the members. The new rulings
discussed at the AGM state that the new maximum cc limits
will be either 360cc OHV or 410cc Side Valve. It is also proposed
that this limit will apply across the 3 major classes, and
we will keep the crank orientation rule (Group 2 Wheels excepted).
All engines must continue to be as used by the lawn mower
industry
Two of the clubs longest serving Committee members have decided
to stand down this year. Eddie Randall and Lol Hatton have
both decided to retire from their positions. Nominations are
now invited for their now-vacant positions of Chairman and
Treasurer
The provisional Race Calendar will also be issued
after the AGM
