NWLMRA 6 HOUR RACE

lawn_mower_racingPlans are now well under way for the return of the 6 hour race (and the evening do). All the usual things will be happening it's just the venue that has changed. The new venue is a 34 acre field near St Michael's, Preston. Directions are very simple, take the M6 north and at junction 33 (M6/M55/A6 junction) take the A6 north towards Garstang. Only a few miles north you will see a some signs for a left turn to Myerscough Agricultural College and 'Lawn Mower Racing'. The field is only 2.5 miles down this road on the left. There will be plenty of signs - just follow your nose. There is actually a premier lodge or travel lodge type place set back from the road at this junction for those who think camping is a bit wild in October!

lawn_mower_racingSaturday will see the majority of the work being done and all the fun. Following the track setting and a practice session will be the highlight of the weekend – Saturday Evening which will be full of all the usual entertainment, Bar, Disco, Karaoke, Food, Auction, Raffles etc, etc. This year the race is being held to raise money for 2 national charities, NCH, one of the largest children's charities in the UK, NCH is also BAe Systems charity challenge 2003 nominated charity and Make-a-Wish. NCH believe that all children and young people have great potential, however difficult their circumstances, and seek to release it by offering them diverse, innovative and responsive services and by campaigning for change. Make-a-Wish grant the wishes of children aged between 3 and 18 with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Sunday will be main race day. Signing on and scrutineering will start at 9:15 and Practice will be 9:30-10:30 and the race will start at 11:00 prompt, with a 5 o'clock finish. There is also some side stalls and a fun fair to occupy non-racers during the Sunday.

I know the deadline for entries has expired but it has been extended. Entry fees are just £15 per team (max 3 drivers per machine) - in the words of David Dickinson - 'Cheap as Chips' Please send your entry forms as soon as possible, either download it from the web (www.nwlmra.org) or phone/email your details - 07929 571383 / nigelsands@nwlmra.org.

For even more details you can contact me on 07929 571383 anytime (with in reason! - not 2 o'clock in the morning for instance!) Please come along and help us raise lots of money for these 2 very worthwhile charities.

Thank you in advance
Stuart, Nigel and the NWLMRA.

P.S. - To all those who won the trophies in 2000 (I think the group 2 roller went to Bob Wilson, the group 3 Briggs went to Barry Stokes and the group 4 went to Andy Lovett) Could we please have them back. Ta Very much.
