Teams thrown out of Lancashire cup
ROCHDALE and Manchester Waconians A team have been thrown
out of the Lancashire Cup after two of their players were
banned for a fight when the two clubs met last weekend.
The Lancashire County committee made the decision after Rochdale
player Glyn Morris, and Steven Lafon, a Waconians spectator,
were involved in a fight when the two sides met on Sunday,
which resulted in an abandoned game and the police being called.
Boardman & Eccles, the Lancashire team, have therefore
been handed a bye into the semi finals. Police are still investigating
the incident.
Lancashire Cup draw (7 March) - quarter-finals: Heaton Mersey
A v Brooklands Hulmeians; Manchester Waconians v Timperley;
Rochdale A v Oldham; Boardman (bye). Semi-finals (3/4 April
); Final (17/18 April).
