READING WIN INAUGURAL dB ZENITH SW LADIES LEAGUE
By Holly Brewer
READING Wildcats are champions of the inaugural dB Zenith
South West Ladies Lacrosse League.
Yesterday the Recreation Ground in Bath put away its rugby
boots to host an afternoon of lacrosse.
The final placings in the first year of the dB South West
League were decided after an afternoons play.
Teams from Bath, Reading, Bristol, Cardiff, Southampton and
Aberwystwyth have been battling it out all season.
Reading Wildcats, who have looked strong throughout, finally
took the honours, with Cardiff and Bristol Universities sharing
second position.
The trophy was presented to the Reading Wildcats captain
Tracey Averies by Ray Wood from league sponsor Zenith Sports,
suppliers of de Beer sports wear and equipment, who will be
supporting the league for the next two years.
The league is the brain-child of Bath Ladies Lacrosse club,
who recognised the growth of the sport in the area and the
opportunity for a formalised fixtures list to encourage competitive
play.
Holly Brewer, league chairman, was very pleased with the
success of the league this year and is looking forward to
welcoming new teams to the competition next season.
