By Neil Goulding

LOUGHBOROUGH University have won the BUSA Women's Lacrosse Championship for a third successive season.

England international Keely Watt led the charge with five goals, while captain Lyndsey Cross added four goals.

Lucy Lynch (3), another England international, Alison Smith and Katy Robertson were also on the scoresheet for the defending champions, who overcame London (10-9), Oxford (7-5) and Bristol (21-1) on route to this year's final.

Vicky Raymer top-scored with a record 18 goals as Liverpool cruised past Brighton in this year's Shield final.

Liverpool ran out comprehensive 30-13 winners having led 23-6 at half time.

And although Brighton won the second half 8-7, further goals from Jenni Archer (3), Jo Fawkner-Corbett (3), Anna Threlfall (3), Jess Summers, Vicky Hepworth and an own-goal from Lynn Phillips completed the scoring.

Brighton replied with eight goals from Caroline Ingarfield and other goals from Jenna Cook (3) and Catherine Baker (2).

Cambridge University failed to retain the Trophy final after a nerve-racking 10-9 loss to first-time finalists Durham.

Durham led 7-6 and managed to hang on for a memorable title win.
