Simon Lafon banned by Manchester Waconians
SIMON Lafon has been banned by Manchester Waconians for the
rest of the season after becoming involved in a fight which
resulted in the abandonment of the Lancashire Cup game against
Rochdale.
Police were called after a row between Lafon, a spectator
at the match at Didsbury Cricket Club on Sunday, and Rochdale
player Glyn Morris ended in a fight.
Lafon received a mouth injury which required 14 stitches
and officials abandoned the match because of "safety
issues".
Waconians had a disciplinary meeting last night, with Lafon
in attendance, and it was decided that he should be severely
punished for his part in the incident.
Rochdale also held an emergency meeting last night and gave
Morris, a midfielder who has played for them for six years,
an undisclosed punishment.
Rochdale will wait for the verdict of a North of England
League disciplinary committee, who meet tomorrow night, before
deciding whether to take any further action against their
player.
