Southern 100: 4 Top Five positions for Alpha Boilers Racing
The
Alpha Boilers Racing team had a successful outing at the Southern
100. The team took part in five events and finished all of
them within the top five.
Klaus Klaffenböck and his sidecar passenger Christian
Parzer raced the machine that they contested the Isle of Man
TT races on at the Billown circuit. They were on a steep learning
curve due to being newcomers to the event and of course the
British weather didn’t help matters with heavy rain
making the track slippery.
The Austrian pair were a big hit with the race fans who cheered
them on their way to their fourth place finish. Klaffenböck
said, "It was great to take part in the S100! We are
absolutely happy with the results. We didn’t know the
course before and a fourth and a fifth position are really
okay for the first time. If weather conditions would have
been better I think we even would have had a chance to do
a podium. But under these conditions we didn’t want
to risk our neck because we want to come back for the next
Southern 100. This year we had to leave the victory to Nick
Crowe and Daniel Sayle. They are from the Island and to know
the course like the back of their hand. But next year we will
attack again."
Martin
Finnegan, the solo rider for the team took part in the three
senior races aboard his Klaffi Honda Fireblade. In the last
race of the event he suffered mechanical problem and had to
retire. In the other two races he finished in 4th and 5th
respectively.
