Martin Finnegan – promising test days at Brno
At Landshaag/Upper-Austria Irish Champion, Martin Finnegan
was only present to cheer on his team from the side lines.
The Landshaag is the only pure road race in Austria, held
on a mountain course which is short but difficult. The track
istself is dangerous, bumpy and of course up hill! Austrian
Superbike rider Michael Witzeneder took part with Martin’s
original Fireblade for the TT and finished second.
Just after the last heat Martin and his mechanics were on
the road to Czechia. They went for a test at Brno on April
16th to 17th. The task was to do as many kilometres as possible
to become acquainted with the Fireblade. The Brno race track
is nearly perfect for a challenge like this. The track itself
is a flowing layout of 5.394 kilometres surrounded by forests
and meadows. The fast course is very technical. Long sections
to open the throttle and combinations of fast and smooth turns
are characteristic for Brno.
After some first laps Martin optimised the suspension of
his Klaffi Honda and then he opened the throttle. Martin Finnegan
did a lot of laps. After the two days at Brno he said: “I’m
really happy. Absolutely no problems with bike during the
tests. The Fireblade is perfect. Now we are ready to go for
the TT!”
