Great Britain’s Short Track Team wins World Championship
Bronze Medal
Great Britain’s Men’s Relay team produced an
excellent performance to take the Bronze medal at the World
Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Gangneung, Korea
7th – 9th March.
With five teams contesting the final it was always going
to be a tough race.
Korea dominated the race from the start and went on to take
the Gold, and after a very close and exciting race which saw
the teams overtaking each other almost every lap Canada took
the Silver medal, with Great Britain’s team of Jon Eley,
Paul Worth, Paul Stanley and Tom Iveson taking a well deserved
Bronze medal ahead of USA and Russia.
Stuart Horsepool said, “ I am delighted with the way
the team raced as well as the result, this was an excellent
performance, every member of the team did their job and they
thoroughly deserved to get a medal”.
This result after their Silver medal at the European Championships
shows that the team are on good form and stands the team in
good stead as they move on to the World Team Championships
in Harbin, China 15th & 16th March.
