Short Track Scoops Another Medal
Following on from his Gold medal success in the 500m at the
recent European Championships Jon Eley continued his medal
winning ways by taking the Bronze medal in the 500m at the
5th event in the 2007/2008 World Cup series, in Quebec, Canada
at the weekend (1st – 3rd February). Jon set a new British
Record of 41.879secs in the process. Paul Worth finished a
commendable 7th also in the 500m.
Jon then placed 9th in the 1000m, while teammate Paul Stanley
finished 10th and also set a new British 1000m Record of 1min
27.104secs.
Sarah Lindsay who has been kept out of the World Cup events
so far this season due to injury skated very well to finish
6th in the Ladies 500m event.
The Men’s 5000m Relay team also continued their good
form, winning the ‘B’ Final and so finishing in
5th place overall.
The team now move to Salt Lake City for the 6th and final
World Cup event of the 2007/2008 season (8th – 10th
February).
