Instructors gear up for the BHS Young Instructor of the
Year final 2007
Ten budding young instructors will battle it out on Thursday,
25 October to be crowned the BHS Young Instructor of the Year
2007.
All the competitors have been selected from regional qualifiers
held at BHS Approved Centres around the UK to compete in the
final at Warwickshire College.
The competition, which is sponsored by South Essex Insurance
Brokers, is open to anyone holding the BHS Preliminary Teaching
Test and gives aspiring Instructors and Coaches the opportunity
to develop and refine their existing coaching skills.
The final will assess teaching skills in dressage, show jumping
and stable management.
Last year's winner Helen Cole said: "I was extremely
proud to have been awarded such an accolade from the BHS."
Since winning last year's competition Helen's career has gone
from strength to strength. She has already entered for further
BHS examinations and has set up a successful livery yard in
Wiltshire.
Prizes this year include a £500 training bursary and
trophy to the winner, as well as training bursaries to all
of the finalists.
Sam Whale, BHS Training Executive, said: "We are committed
to the ongoing development of this programme as it provides
a platform for coaches to continue their education within
the equine industry. Its ongoing delivery is vital to ensure
we support and encourage the improvement of young equestrian
coaches of the future, from grass routes through to international
level."
