UK Coaching Certificates prove popular with riding instructors
The recently endorsed UK Coaching Certificates (UKCC) are
proving popular with equestrian instructors looking to gain
a Government-recognised coaching qualification.
The Coaching Certificates were developed after a Government
Commissioned Task Force identified the lack of a professional
coaching framework across all sports.
The British Equestrian Federation approached Equestrian Qualifications
GB Limited, a subsidiary company of The British Horse Society,
to award the Certificates for the Equestrian Coach.
The British Horseball Association, British Horse Driving Trials
Association, The British Horse Society, British Show Jumping
Association and The Pony Club have all been approved by EQL
to deliver the Coaching Certificates.
It is expected that other member bodies of the BEF, all of
which have worked with the BEF to develop the equine coaching
certificates, will register for approval shortly.
Linda Haworth, Senior Executive of Equestrian Qualifications
Limited, said: "There is a lot of activity going on at
the moment within the equestrian disciplines to run pilot
courses and register candidates.
"EQL has just registered 70 candidates for the Level
1 and 2 Coaching Certificates and these candidates are currently
completing their portfolios in order to attain UKCC recognition."
The British Horseball Association has just completed a final
assessment day for the Level 1 Coaching Assistant and has
applied for certification for 5 of the successful candidates.
Meanwhile The British Horse Society has produced the first
Level 2 Coach.
