The BHS Borders Festival of the Horse set for sixth year
of success
The sixth BHS Borders Festival of the Horse, winner of the
Borders Award for Excellence in Rural Diversification 2006/07,
takes place from 18-28 May.
The unique festival offers more than 40 events across the
Borders region with activities and entertainment for riders
and non-riders alike.
Competitions, guided rides, training sessions, demonstrations,
open days, themed evening entertainment and a safety demonstration
by Lothian and Borders police are just some of the events
taking place over the 11 days.
The Festival will also incorporate the Floors Castle International
Horse Trials on 19-20 May and the Kelso race meeting on 23
May.
The centrepiece of the Festival programme, the Grand Competition
Day, takes place on 26 May at Bowhill Country Park, home of
the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch.
Also on 26 May is a sponsored ride on the beautiful Balmoral
Estate to celebrate The British Horse Society's Diamond Jubilee
and raise funds for its safety, access and welfare work. Routes
vary in length from 10-30km and there will be a range of prizes
and rosettes for those taking part
