Calling all Welsh Young Instructors!
BHS Cymru will give £100 to each of the eight instructors
in the Welsh Qualifier of the reintroduced Young Instructor
of the Year Competition to help with their costs. The Welsh
Qualifier will take place on Tuesday, 11 July, at Liege Manor
Farm Equestrian Centre in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Applicants must be aged under 30 on 31 December 2006 and
hold a minimum of the Preliminary Teaching Certificate. They
must also be on the BHS Register of Instructors. They will
need to fill out an application form and submit a CV which
needs to be a record of equestrian teaching experience with
three references from relevant people. It must be attached
to the application form.
Two members of the Training and Education Advisory Group
will assess the CVs. Eight successful candidates will be selected
to go forward to each of the 10 Regional Qualifiers. Candidates
will be asked to pay a £25 fee for this day.
These days are intended to be both an educational experience
for participants as well as a selection process. They will
be judged on their teaching ability. One person from each
qualifier will go through to the final to be held on 26 October
at Warwickshire College. BHS Cymru Development Officer Jan
Roche said: "I am delighted we are able to offer this
incentive to young instructors to encourage as many as possible
to enter the competition.
"The money to be awarded has been raised from training
events held in Wales so it appropriate that BHS Cymru puts
it back into encouraging and helping up-and-coming instructors
to further their career aims." Application forms are
