Puffa to sponsor BHS Equitation Competition
The British Horse Society is “delighted” to
announce that Puffa, an equestrian clothing manufacturer,
will sponsor the BHS Equitation Competition.
Chris Doran, Senior Executive of the BHS Approvals Department,
said: “We are delighted that Puffa have decided to sponsor
the BHS Equitation Competition. It is important that we support
all riders and not just those with horses.
“Thanks to the Equitation Competition and the help
of Puffa this is just what we will be able to do.”
Commentating on this partnership, Kate Rosten, General Manager
of Puffa said: "Puffa are thrilled to be involved with
the BHS and to support such a worthwhile and beneficial competition.
The pleasure of riding should be available to everyone whether
horse owner or not and that is exactly what this marvellous
competition provides."
The competition is to encourage non-horse owners to ride
and compete. Sixteen regional qualifiers will be held between
now and March 2007.
There will be two age categories for the competitions - 13s
and under and 17s and under. Next year, 16 qualifiers from
each age group will be invited to take part in the final.
Venues for the competitions have yet to be selected. The
qualifiers will be held at BHS Approved Riding Centres but
the competition is open to competitors from licensed riding
centres as well.
After the selection of venues, riders will be able to enter
the competition at their nearest riding centre. Only riders
who do not own a horse will be able to take part.
The competition will be split into three sections: a dressage
test, a show-jumping course and a short written paper.
Numerous prizes will be made available thanks to Puffa, including
training vouchers and rosettes.
