Woburn ride raises £6,000 for charity
More than 200 riders enjoyed a rare treat on Sunday 8 May
2005 when they took part in a sponsored ride around the Woburn
Estate in Bedfordshire, in aid of The British Horse Society
and the Tavistock Trust for Aphasia.
Riders were able to experience parts of the estate not normally
open to the public, and could see several different breeds
of the Estates deer population and even some bison in one
part of the safari park!
One of the participants remarked that if she never did another
ride again in her life, she is glad that she did this one.
The ride has raised around £6,000 for the two charities.
Dawn King and to Natalie Overton who were the adult and junior
riders who raised the most sponsorship money. They will each
be receiving a special prize from Woburn for their hard work.
The organisers are very grateful to The Duke of Bedford for
opening the estate for this event, and to Peter Chandler from
Paris House Restaurant who very kindly sponsored the ride
rosettes.
