THE RIDE OF A LIFETIME – AND ALL FOR A GOOD CAUSE!
IF you fancy a holiday with a difference this summer, sign
up for a British Horse Society Challenge ride to Peru, Jordan
or Iceland!
The Inca Challenge, from 22 June to 7 July, takes you into
the mysterious and magical depths and mountains of the Andes
in Peru.
Following the Inca trail, you will encounter heights of up
to 5,750 metres as you wind along the path that eventually
leads you to the breathtaking Machu Picchu. A head for heights
is a must, as is a reasonable level of fitness, as it will
be necessary at times to lead your mount on foot up and down
gradients at altitude.
The Viking Challenge, 14-21 August, offers you the chance
to ride Icelandic horse across the amazing and varied landscapes
of Iceland.
The sturdy 13hh Icelandic horse can travel at the tolt (a
pace as fast as galloping) so smoothly that it is said you
could sip a glass of wine without spilling a drop! The Challenge
will take you across Iceland, negotiating glacial rivers,
riding along seashores and over hills.
Finally, the Bedouin Challenge to Jordan, from 24 September
to 2 October, is an inspiring ride across desert terrain.
The vastness of the landscape is immense as you ride across
sand dunes and open plains with breathtaking views and beautiful
sunsets, sleeping in Bedouin tents and dining under the desert
stars.
