BHS TREC Welsh Championships to be staged from 1-3 July

More than 60 competitors from all over Britain are expected
at the BHS TREC Welsh Championships, sponsored by Ifor Williams
Trailers Ltd with support from Performance Equestrian, over
the weekend of 1-2 July near Corwen.
One of the highlights of the BHS TREC calendar, the event
is taking place at Bryn Tangor Farm, Denbighshire, located
in green rolling countryside just four kilometres north of
the River Dee. Bryn Tangor offers a spectacular setting with
access onto the Llantyilio Mountains and Llandegla Forest.
Pre-event vetting and competitor briefing takes place on 1
July, with the competition running over two days, 2-3 July.
Mounted orienteering (POR) is the first phase of the Championships
on Saturday 2 July. Control of Gaits (CG) and Cross-country
Trials (PTV) take place on Sunday 3 July.
Classes at BHS TREC Championships start at Level 2, catering
for novices to the sport. Classes continue up to Level 4 for
the most experienced individual competitors, testing the ability
and fitness of both horse and rider.
The 2005 Young Riders Classes are incorporated within the
Level 4 class in order to help them prepare for their annual
International Championships.
At Championship level there are sections for Individuals,
Pairs and even Teams. Horses and ponies of all shapes and
sizes can compete.
BHS TREC an event all the family can take part in. There are
also no restrictions to rider age, riders under 16 may compete
in pairs classes partnered by a rider over 16 years.
BHS TREC competitions place a strong emphasis on having fun
in a friendly atmosphere, however they are still highly competitive.
