Rural Riders European CIC** Team Championship - Long List
Selected
Twelve horses and riders have been long listed for the Rural
Riders CIC** European Championship to be held in Germany from
11 to 14 August.
They are: Jo Andrews and Blue III, Emma Beaumont and Padraigs
Dream, Jonathan Chapman and Gold Rush III, Samantha Cutts
and Piccola Star, Anna Goodson and Deards Rebel Yell, Sarah
Healy and Macallan, Guy Herbert and Fortune's Way, Dee Kennedy
and Big El, Emma Lambourne-Edwards and Harvey's Courage, Melissa
Shawcross and Swan Song II, Vicky Tuffs and Tudor Romance,
and Michael Wynne with Primitive Loch.
The list was drawn up following a series of trials at spring
CIC** events culminating at the final trials at Windsor and
Longleat.
The 12 will now commence team training, concentrating mainly
on the team dressage test that is unique to this championship.
Selection of the eight horses and riders to travel to Germany
will be made in mid-July.
All the riders are members of British Riding Clubs, a pre-condition
for the event. Britain has been sending a team to contest
this championship since 1991 and hosted the event at Hartpury
College in 2002, where the team won a bronze medal.
Sir Robert Hayman-Joyce, team Chef de Mission and Chairman
of the selectors, commented that the aim was to win a gold
medal and added that the new format introduced for team selection
and training should ensure that we have the best ever chance
of doing that.
The team is sponsored by Sparsholt College Hampshire, Eric
Gillie Horse Transport, Dodson & Horrell and Baillie Haylage.
