British Riding Clubs
Rural Riders European CIC** Team Championship - Team
Selection
Following an intensive training session over the weekend
of 16-17 July, the team to represent Great Britain at the
Rural Riders European CIC** Team Eventing Championship has
been selected.
Eight riders and horses have been selected to travel to Ganderkesee
in Germany where the championship will be held.
They are: Jo Andrews and Blue III from Wilmslow Riding Club
in Cheshire; Jonathan Chapman and Gold Rush II from Breakspear
Riding Club in Buckinghamshire; Anna Goodson and Deards Rebel
Yell from Rother Valley Riding Club in Sussex; Sarah Healy
and Maccallum from Hope Valley Riding Club in the East Midlands;
Guy Herbert and Fortune's Way from Huntingdon and District
Riding Club; Caron Roberts and Alley Cat III from Swindon
& District Riding Club; Vicky Tuffs and Tudor Romance
from Vale of Usk Riding Club in Monmouthshire, and Michael
Wynne and Primitive Loch from East Cheshire Combined Training
Group.
The Championship will be held between from 11 -14 August
and the six riders and horses taking part in the team event
will be selected after arrival in Germany. The remaining two
will run as individuals.
All the riders are members of British Riding Clubs, a pre-condition
for the event, as well as being members of British Eventing.
The team will have a final get-together over the weekend
of 5-7 August.
They will put in an appearance at the British Riding Clubs
Horse Trials Championship at Offchurch Bury to put on a public
performance of the team dressage test, unique to this competition.
Team members and reserves will ride the individual dressage
test. This event will take place on the evening of Friday
5 August.
The Rural Riders Championship is recognised by the FEI, the
world governing body for equestrian sport, and is awarded
CIC ** status.
Britain has been sending a team to contest this championship
since 1991 and hosted the event at Hartpury College in 2002,
where the team won a bronze medal.
