BHS TREC Scottish Championships to be staged from 5-7 August
2005
Competitors from all over Britain are expected at the BHS
TREC Scottish Championships, supported by South Essex Insurance
Brokers, over the weekend of 5-7 August near East Kilbride.
One of the highlights of the BHS TREC calendar, the event
is taking place at Meadowhead Farm, Auldhouse, where a fantastic
new equestrian centre is currently under development.
Meadowhead Farm provides an excellent venue for competitors
and their supporters, with scenic off-road riding in the peaceful
Whitelee Forest, and camping facilities available on site.
Pre-event vetting and competitor briefing takes place on
5 August, with the competition running over two days, 6-7
August.
Mounted orienteering (POR) on Saturday 6 August is the first
phase of the Championships challenging the navigational skills
of the riders. Control of Gaits (CG) and Cross-country Trials
(PTV) takes place on Sunday 7 August testing rider's skills
and the training of the horse.
Classes at BHS TREC Championships start at Level 2, catering
for novices to the sport. Classes continue up to Level 4 for
the most experienced individual competitors, testing the ability
and fitness of both horse and rider.
The 2005 Young Riders Classes are incorporated within the
Level 4 class in order to help them prepare for their annual
International Championships. This year sees the introduction
of the Scottish Riding Clubs Team Challenge, a special section
for teams representing BHS Affiliated Riding Clubs in Scotland
At Championship level there are sections for Individuals,
Pairs and even Teams. Horses and ponies of all shapes and
sizes can compete.
BHS TREC is an event all the family can take part in. There
are also no restrictions to rider age, riders under 16 may
compete in pairs classes partnered by a rider over 16 years.
BHS TREC competitions place a strong emphasis on having fun
in a friendly atmosphere, however they are still highly competitive.
