BHS TREC returns to Newton Cross Country Course
The Newton Cross-Country Course near Bingham, Nottinghamshire,
will once again host BHS TREC - on 17 and 18 September.
This spectacular course at Newton held two phases of the
Robin Hood BHS TREC event, run by White Horse TREC Group,
in April and it proved a popular choice.
TREC was brought to the UK by The British Horse Society (BHS)
in 1998. The BHS is the governing body for the sport in the
UK.
BHS TREC consists of three phases: Mounted orienteering (POR),
Control of Paces (CP) and Cross-country Trials (PTV).
Those with the highest accumulated points win the competition.
The good out-riding around the farm will be used for the
POR phase on Saturday 17 September. This will be followed
by a social event in the evening.
Day two will consist of the Control of Paces and PTV obstacle
phases around the cross-country course.
BHS TREC is an event all the family can take part in, with
horses and ponies of all shapes and sizes.
There are no restrictions to rider age. Riders under 16 may
compete in pairs classes if partnered by a rider over 16 years.
Pairs and Individual classes at the Newton event are open
to all. Level 2 is ideal for those new to the sport, while
level 2A will suit those with some experience.
There is a strong emphasis on having fun and BHS TREC is
renowned for its pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere.
