BHS TREC returns to Hazelbarrow
The popular sport of BHS TREC will come to Hazelbarrow farm,
South Yorkshire, on 11 September for the second year running.
This follows the successful inaugural event of 2004.
Blue Chip Feed will sponsor the Hazelbarrow TREC.
The British Horse Society (BHS) brought TREC to the UK in
1998. The BHS is the governing body for the sport in the UK.
BHS TREC consists of three phases: Mounted orienteering (POR),
Control of Paces (CP) and Cross-country Trials (PTV). Those
with the highest accumulated points win the competition.
This is an event the whole family can participate in, with
horses and ponies of all shapes and sizes.
There are no restrictions to rider age. Riders under 16 may
compete in pairs classes partnered by a rider of over 16 years.
Pairs and Individual classes at Hazelbarrow start at Level
1. This event is ideal for a first attempt at a BHS TREC competition.
The emphasis is on having fun and improving riding skills
all in one.
Hazelbarrow Farm, Norton, Sheffield is an ideal venue for
a BHS TREC. With a cross-country course on site providing
plenty of scope for variety in the PTV obstacle phase.
There is ample space for the Control of Paces test, with
good hacking in the surrounding area.
