Bowland BHS TREC group competition to be held 30 July 2005
One of the first BHS TREC competitions to be held in Lancashire
takes place in Preston, Lancashire, near to the beautiful
Forest of Bowland.
Springfield Farm, Garstang, is to stage its first BHS TREC
competition on 30 July 2005.
Classes at the Bowland event are open to all, starting at
Level 1, catering for complete novices to the sport. This
event is ideal for a first attempt at a BHS TREC competition.
The competition consists of three phases: Mounted orienteering
(POR), Control of Gaits (CG) and Cross-country Trials (PTV),
the winners being those with the highest accumulated points
over the three phases.
The POR route takes riders along tracks, byways and quiet
lanes on the edge of the beautiful Forest of Bowland, incorporating
scenic views of the Fylde coast.
The event includes sections for Individuals and Pairs. Horses
and ponies of all shapes and sizes can compete.
BHS TREC is an event all the family can take part in. There
are no restrictions to rider age, and riders under 16 may
compete in pairs classes partnered by a rider over 16 years.
There is a strong emphasis on having fun, but it is still
highly competitive.
