A glittering night at the Get Smart BHS TREC League Awards
Ball
More than 100 riders and their partners attended the Get
Smart BHS TREC League Awards Ball on 29 January at the Rutland
Square Hotel, Nottingham.
BHS Midlands Development Office Preetha Balse presented prestigious
prizes to riders who, throughout the 2004 season, collected
points for their performances at events around the UK. Prizes
were awarded to those competing in the Individual and Pairs
Level 1 & 2, and 3 & 4 events.
Kathy Wilding, from Shropshire, won the Individual Level
3 & 4 League Championship, for her consistent results
in the most demanding level of competition throughout 2004,
adding to her Level 1 & 2 title in 2002. Kathy was rewarded
with a superb pair of horse clippers donated by sponsors Get
Smart, and the Anthea Kendrick BHS TREC Perpetual Trophy.
The Level 3 & 4 Pairs title saw a three-way tie after
a very closely fought competition, honours being shared by
husband and wife Dave and Sheila Rogerson, (Ackworth, West
Yorkshire); Ian Macalindin (Belper, Derbyshire) /Nigel Robinson
(Tadcaster, North Yorkshire), and Sarah Thurnell (Clowne,
Derbyshire) /Sarah Constantine (Grantham, Lincolnshire).
All the Pairs prize-winners across the Levels received a
jacket embroidered with their name and the BHS TREC League
livery.
The Level 1 & 2 Individual title was also shared, this
time between Vanessa Warren, (Bridgwater, Somerset) - securing
her third League title in a row - and reigning English Champion
Joy Taylor from Surrey. Both received a bespoke bridle designed
for TREC by saddler Graham Harding, of Ingrams Salisbury,
and donated by the Worship Company of Saddlers.
Finally, the Level 1 & 2 Pairs title was won by the ‘Grindle’s
Girls’ team of Isobel France (Warwickshire) and Rachael
Wilmot (Nottinghamshire), claiming their first ever league
title.
BHS Senior Executive, Competitions, Rob Jones said: “It
was a great evening, with people travelling from all over
the UK to attend. BHS TREC is becoming an increasingly popular
equestrian sport, and we are indebted to Get Smart for their
continued support of the league.”
