Make a splash in the BHS's stylish black wellies for British
Welly Week
British Welly Week takes place from 18 to 24 April as part
of the 50th birthday celebration of the famous Hunter green
welly.
Hunter has produced eight different coloured wellies to raise
funds for eight different charities including The British
Horse Society (the BHS) - chosen as the only equine charity
involved.
British Welly Week aims to raise awareness of the Giving
Welly campaign through media activities and encouraging people
to take part in or organise events to support the eight charities.
For each pair of wellies sold, the proceeds for charity will
be split in half. Half goes to the charity represented by
the colour of the welly sold, and the other half goes into
a pot divided equally between the eight charities.
The BHS receives a donation of up to £20 for every
pair of black wellies sold, which helps the BHS carry out
its vital work spanning safety, training, welfare and access
and rights of way and other equine issues.
Last year, The British Horse Society raised more than £13,000
from the sale of black Hunter wellies, and by the end of last
month, almost 2,400 pairs had been sold.
The BHS's Chief Executive Graham Cory said: "There was
a time when only a Goons Show script would have portrayed
the welly as a source of untold riches.
"Now so many people have bought Hunter wellies - especially
the extremely stylish black ones - that our charitable work
for horses and riders has been given a huge boost. Avoid soggy
feet misery in rainy April's British Welly Week - snap up
a pair of black Hunter wellies while you can!"
