ALTERNATIVE WAYS FORWARD
Alternative and complimentary therapies for horses - that
is the topic of a day of talks and demonstrations to be promoted
by the Dorset Committee of The British Horse Society on the
18th July. The aim is to give horse owners a better understanding
of the wide range of treatments available.
Accupuncture, Homeopathy, Bowen, Equine Sports Massage, Reiki,
Shiatsu, Physiotherapy, Remedial Shoeing, Healing, Kinesiology,
Osteopathy, Equine Dentistry, McTimony Chiropractic, Animal
Dowsing, Essential Oils and Sports Psychology will all be
covered.
Kirsty Davis, Chairman of the Equine Sports Massage Association
and author of the book "Movement, Muscles, Massage"
will be giving an informative talk and demonstration of equine
sports massage which will include colouring the horse with
the various muscle groups, lungeing it to show how they move
and then showing the various techniques used to massage them.
There will also be a Dressage demonstration by Julie Deverill,
Louise Crutcher and Liz Guy showing the training required
from Prelim to Prix St George level. And Gill Parker, one
time all round Amateur Champion of Europe, will be demonstrating
the art of Western Riding and educating the young horse.
Jacky Hardy will be showing some of the techniques used in
sports psychology which can help a nervous rider gain confidence
and explaining how to stay calm before a competition.
The event will be held at Half Moon Stud, Motcombe, Gillingham,
Dorset on July 18th. Adults £5; BHS members (on production
of card) and under 16 £4.50; 5 years and under free.
