British Horse Society to award Jubilee Medal at Badminton
The British Horse Society will present one of its valued
Golden Jubilee Medals to Mrs Pamela Gormley at the BHS stand
at 12 noon on Saturday 3 May during the Badminton Horse Trials.
The medals were struck in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s
Golden Jubilee last year and are presented to mark special
achievements.
Mrs Gormley, from Farnborough in Hampshire, was originally
a member of the Institute of the Horse, transferring to the
British Horse Society when it was set up in 1947, later becoming
a Life Member. Since then she has been an active volunteer,
spending a great deal of time ensuring a safe equestrian crossing
over the A3 when it first became a dual carriageway, campaigning
for safe off-road riding and supporting the cause of horse
welfare in the fight against ragwort. She was also District
Commissioner for the Hursley Hambledon Branch of the Pony
Club for fifteen years.
BHS Chairman, Pat Campbell, who will present the Medal said,
“We are delighted to be able to mark Mrs Gormley’s
achievements as a BHS volunteer by awarding her a Golden Jubilee
Medal. It is also very fitting that the presentation should
take place at Badminton as Pamela owned the home-bred Master
Question, ridden by Julian Seaman at Badminton and Burghley.
Julian is now Badminton’s press officer. We hope that
he will be able to escape the attentions of the press office
to attend the presentation.”
The BHS stand is No:106, situated next to
the Scoreboard.
