HONDA TO TEST YOUNG DRIVERS
Honda is pleased to announce that GP2 drivers Mike Conway,
Luca Filippi and Andreas Zuber will drive at the team's first
winter test in Barcelona next month.
As part of the team's commitment to the development of young
motorsport talent, Mike, Luca and Andreas will have the opportunity
to drive the Honda race car at the Circuit de Catalunya on
13-14-15 November.
Mike Conway, 24, has been part of the Honda Young Driver
Programme since March 2007, and has worked closely with the
Honda team throughout his debut season in the GP2 series with
the Super Nova International Team. Prior to GP2, Mike won
the British Formula 3 championship and the Macau Grand Prix
during the 2006 season, in addition to winning the Formula
Renault UK title in 2004.
Mike's team-mate at Super Nova, Luca Filippi, 22, has competed
in the GP2 series for the past two seasons, finishing in 4th
position in the 2007 driver standings. Luca began his racing
career in his home country of Italy, winning the Italian Formula
3000 championship in 2005 before moving up to GP2.
Andreas Zuber, 24, has also spent the past two seasons racing
in GP2, finishing in 9th position this year with championship
winning team iSport International. Austrian-born Andreas previously
competed in the F3 Euroseries and the World Series by Renault
before starting in GP2 in 2006.
Ron Meadows, Sporting Director for the Honda Racing F1 Team
with responsibility for Honda's Young Driver Programme, commented,
"Honda is committed to developing promising young talent
in motorsport and we will take this opportunity to have a
closer look at three young drivers who have done very well
in the GP2 series this year. We will also be evaluating their
potential to assist Honda in the future with our testing requirements."
