Ross Brawn talks exclusively to Honda Racing TV about his
decision to join Honda
A PROUD RACING HERITAGE AND THE COMMITMENT TO SUCCEED...
At the end of a hugely exciting day for the Honda Racing
F1 Team, Ross Brawn took time out from his first visit to
the team's Brackley headquarters to tell Honda Racing TV why
the lure of Honda's challenging spirit proved impossible to
resist.
Fresh from a year-long sabbatical, in which Ross gave careful
consideration to the next step in his Formula One career,
he says that hanging up his fishing-rod was not such a tough
call versus the opportunities that lay ahead with Honda.
"It wasn't so difficult", said Ross, "especially
with an opportunity like this, because there are only a few
teams in Formula One that appeal to me and this especially
was one that I wanted to work for. So it wasn't a difficult
decision."
When asked why he found the role at Honda so enticing, in
his first TV interview for his new team, he said "The
main thing is the attitude and commitment of Honda. Also knowing
that Honda have a very long racing heritage and they understand
what is needed in racing, how difficult it is, how challenging
it is and clearly they are making the commitment in resource,
commitment in people and commitment in all the things that
are necessary to succeed in Formula One. If we don't succeed
it's down to us, it's not down to the resources and commitment
that Honda are making."
Tune in to Honda Racing TV to hear more of Ross's thoughts
on the team and drivers. You can also hear from Nick Fry,
who talks of his six month "terrier-like" pursuit
of Ross and the rousing reception the team's new Team Principal
received on his first visit to Brackley.
