OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION AND THE WORLD TEAM FINAL
It can't get much better than this!
Great Britain Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Team turned
all the predictions and hopes on their heads by taking the
World Championships by storm.
The team surpassed all expectations and finished with 233.025
points and 6th place securing an Olympic berth for Beijing
China 2008 (top 12 teams) and the World Team Final (top 8
teams) on Wednesday.
Beth Tweddle was the fourth top qualifier and will compete
in the All Around finals later this week. Beth has also won
a place in the Bars final to defend her World title and also
a place in the Floor final.
Beckie Downie takes the reserve placs for Vault and Bars
finals.
British Coaches were staggered at the result.
“We were watching the team not the scores and never
imagined we had done so well” said Colin Still. “This
is a result that comes down to a great vision, the inspiring
leadership of Adrian Stan and the belief of the gymnasts,
coaches and clubs”.
“….and a very talented team” added Corin
Moroson.
