Great Britain received a massive confidence boost ahead of
the World Championships with a victory in the 3-way International
against Switzerland and The Netherlands in Ipswich.
The British Team secured the victory with a total of 354.55
points, with the Swiss in second (353.85) and the Dutch Team
3rd (344.9).

Looking at the Individual results, youngsters Daniel Keatings
and Kristian Thomas lead the British march finishing in 2nd
and 4th, with between overall Individual winner Jefferey Wammes
(89.55) and Dennis Mannhart from Switzerland (88.5)
Men’s Technical Committee Chair, Trevor Low said: “For
the GBR challenge to improve World Championships rankings
this result is crucial as it gives huge confidence and belief
that the gymnasts are good enough to join the 1st division
of world gymnastics.
“This is the 1st time in decades that we have beaten
the senior Swiss team so now the British go in to the final
training camp before Stuttgart with a positive, determined
and excited attitude that will carry them though to Germany".
Eddie Van Hoof, Technical Director for Men’s Artistic
Gymnastics said: “This gives us a huge boost of confidence
but we wont get to carried away as we know there is still
a lot of work to do before Stuttgart, but overall we are very
happy with the days competition.”
A big crowd enjoyed the fantastic hospitality that the Pipers
Vale club in Ipswich always manage to give. Next up for this
top class venue- the mouth-watering Great Britain v Brazil
Women’s match later this month!
