THE EUROPEAN APPARATUS FINALS 2007
Daniel Keatings - European Pommel Horse Silver Medal
2007
is already a landmark year for British Gymnastics. 7 European
Finals places, 4 for Men and 3 for Women. For the GBR Women
this is a continuation of successes as a team led by Beth
Tweddle and her World Title. For the Men this demonstrates
a meteoric rate of progress just two years after World Class
funding was withdrawn for a lack of results.
Rod Smith, Head of Delegation for GBR at these European Championships
must be proud of what his team has done here in Amsterdam
even before the Finals began. It can only get better.
The British Men have had to wait many years between European
medals;
Nik Stuart, Floor 1957,
Neil Thomas, Vault 1992
Kanukai Jackson, Vault 2002.
