Sound British victory in 4 Nations Trampoline International
Crowtree Lesuire Centre played host to the 4 Nations Trampoline
international on 13th May 2006.
This annual event is a contest between Czech Republic, Denmark,
Portugal and of course Great Britain. However with the European
Championships just a week away, for all countries this was
a chance to test their brightest prospects.
“This is a great opportunity for experience, and our
team certainly stepped up” said Squad coach John Beer.
Crowtree centre is at heart of Sunderlands night life and
our visitors were treated to some good old northern hospitality
as the Friday night nightclubs kicked into action. Luckily
no one was tempted and just viewed from the hotel windows
as the party revellers hit the streets.
The centre is very supportive of Trampoline competitions
and ran 3 National championships in a row back in the 80’s
said organisers Bill Leach and Linda Kouache.
“We are happy that our guests were extremely impressed
by the way the competition was organised, from their reception
at Newcastle Airport right through to their early departure
on the Sunday morning” said National Technical Committee
member for World Class Liaison – John Beeton.
An uncharacteristic error from Phillip Dodson in his first
voluntary round and great performances from Amadeu Neves of
Portugal and Jacob Hansen of Denmark gave the latter two individual
gold and silver, however GB’s strength is in its depth
and our visitors had to watch as every other team member from
GB turned up the heat.
Kara Jamieson our top lady and Steve Walsh our top man were
both on form and the GB team placed 3rd to 7th respectively
enough to secure a very sound victory…
“I am impressed that every single member scored a routine
that helped GB to its victory” said head of GB delegation
Martin Laws “that shows how well prepared they all were
and that is a credit not only to themselves and GB, but to
their personal coaches and clubs. We are looking forward to
the European Championships with interest!"
