A sixth consecutive title for Claire Wright

British Trampoline Championships 2006 - Results

Claire and Jaime (image Alan Edwards) At the end of a season that has seen Claire Wright battling more against herself than the opposition she went head to head with Jaime Moore and claimed the British Title by 0.1.

The NIA in Birmingham hosted the British Trampoline Championships in a dress rehearsal for the World Cup to be held 25th November in the same arena.

With a new format, the 2006 Trampoline Championships attracted a huge audience. The slick and efficient presentation gave the performers the adrenalin rush of a big venue and the credibility of a major production. Well over 200 entries competed for Team, Age Group and Senior Titles. As the field thinned out with each stage of the qualification system, Sunday was a rare opportunity for both audience and gymnasts to experience the excitement of a great Final.

Claire Wright (image Alan Edwards) Claire Wright trailed a little on Saturday but pulled back with an outstanding 19+ result, 4 points clear and the confidence to attack the Senior Title. Jaime is an awesome opponent and gave little away, great technique and fine form but it was the narrowest of margins that was to deny her that elusive GBR Champion status.

The Senior Men saw Gary Smith sidelined. Gary is recovering from surgery, and has been back in training only for a couple of weeks. He has his sights set on the World Cup later this year. At this British he was there for his fellow club members.

In a great 2 day contest Simon Milnes held off James Higgins with a comfortable 9 tenth cushion. The determination of the sport to return to “art form” performances was reflected in the results, to win a medal in Great Britain you must have Great Form. 2 years today since Paul Luxon died the trampoline community was reminded that with the Paul Luxon memorial Trophy came a responsibility to acknowledge and carry on the British Tradition of Beautiful Trampolining.
