Beth wins North West Sports Personality.
Beth
Tweddle has been named the North West Sports Personality of
the Year.
In the ceremony held at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel,
Beth beat fellow contenders, Rugby Unions Charlie Hodgson
and Rugby Leagues Paul Wellens, to pick up this illustrious
award. Winning this title sets her up nicely as she moves
on to the main BBC Sports Personality of the Year competition
this Sunday, she said:
A great year for Beth Tweddle (V.Minkus)
“It’s a fantastic honour to be North West Sports
Personality as its voted for by the public and I had some
very hard competition competing for votes. It’s not
all down to me, my coach Amanda Kirby has been the main help
in me having such a great year as well as my parents who have
always supported me.”
And her chances for the ‘big one’ on Sunday?
“Obviously these are two totally different votes. Just
to be on the shortlist for the main sports personality has
been great and something I never dreamed would happen to me.”
You will be able to watch the BBC North West Sports Awards
programme on Wednesday 6 December at 7.00pm on BBC 1.
The BBC Sports Personality of the Year takes place live on
BBC One this Sunday at 7pm. Beth is one of ten short listed
finalists who will be looking for YOUR VOTE on Sunday night!!
