Beth in action (Volker Minkus)After Anaheim 2003, Beth Tweddle added another Bronze medal on A. Bars to her collection at the World Apparatus Finals in Melbourne on Saturday, 26 November 2005.

As it happened two years ago, Beth was outscored by two Americans and 0.012 from the Silver (9.575).

Nastia Liukin, who lost the All-around title from Chellsie Memmel by the slightest possible margin of 0.001 on Friday, won her first Gold medal (9.662), followed by Memmel (9.587).

*Beth said: “I am really please! I came into the World Championships hoping I could get a medal and it’s happened. I am really, really pleased. I can’t say I was expecting it, but I was definitely hopeful of winning a medal.

My routine went OK. There were some bits that were good and some that weren’t so good. But overall I think I did pretty well.

In the warm-up gym this morning I slipped off the bars and scraped my knee. It hurt a little but I just tried not to think about it.”

Congratulations Beth! (Volker Minkus)Women’s A.Bars
